I'm super happy to offer patterns from a talented local Queenstown knitwear designer, Kiniki Knits

This is a physical printed pattern. Kiniki Knits patterns will also be stocked at the Arrowtown Post Shop.

Millbrook is a sleeveless top or singlet worked in lightweight summer yarn. It is meant to be a quick project, but with enough detail to keep things interesting.

The front and back are worked identically, each featuring a deep V-neckline, gentle waist shaping and perforated edging details along the neckline and armholes. This edging requires a bit of attention but is within the reach of advanced-beginner knitters.

Both the front and back are worked flat from the bottom up then seamed at the sides and shoulders.

The top has a mid-hip length with a naturally rolled hem for a relaxed finished, but it can be shortened easily by adjusting the length worked before the waist shaping. The hem is left to roll for a simple look.

The pattern is named “Millbrook” after a summer family walk through the estate in Otago, New Zealand.

YARN:

Choose a summer yarn with gauge of 22 stitches and 30-35 rows per 10 cm. You can achieve this gauge by either holding the yarn single or double. We recommend something lightweight (not too dense) with at least 110 m per 50 grams if held single and 220 m per 50 grams if held double.

Suggested yarn

  • Sandnes Garn Tynn Line (held double), 53% cotton, 33% viscose, 14% linen, 220 m per 50 grams.
  • Önling No 14 (held single) 100% Tencel Lyocell, 114 m per 50 grams.
  • Knitting for Olive Pure Silk (held double), 100% Silk, 250 m per 50 grams.
  • Rowan Summerlite DK (held single), 100% Egyptian Cotton, 130 m per 50 grams.
  • Fiddlesticks Wren (held single), 100% Cotton 8 Ply, 125 m per 50 grams.

The example in the images is worked in Sandnes Garn Tynn Line, held double, shade 1015.
