About me

Hi, my name is Colleen and I love knitting and especially love knitting with gorgeous yarn. Don't be fooled, I'm no expert and I've still got so much to learn on my knitting journey. I'm inspired by fellow knitters all around the world and I spend a lot of my time (too much) scrolling socials for knitting posts, I follow and receive newsletters from many other knitters, and I try bookmark every online wool shop in Australasia. And I collect! Can I call it that? I am a collector of wool (some would call it obsessive, others call it hoarding!) but, I love my yarn stash and yes, I do knit with it. It's not on my shelves for show. It's my inspiration and it fuels my passion.

So it's no surprise why I've ended up owning a yarn store. I'd love to have a physical shop and that's on the wishlist for now but thought I'd start with an online shop first and see where that takes me. For now, I'm here, in a small space on your phone or computer, ready to inspire you to take the time to knit. There are so many benefits to knitting (or crochet) but that's a conversation for another time. 

For most people, buying wool is about touching and feeling it, and I get that you can't do that online, so I've tried my best to take decent photos and use words to describe the yarn. Seeing if the colours work side by side when choosing more than one colour is also tricky so please reach out to me, I can take photos of different combinations together for you and email them through or we can chat on whatsapp using the camera. If you're not 100% satisfied with what you receive, I'll happily exchange it (if not used or damaged) for something else (postage at your cost).

Future plans: 1. Ideally open up a physical shop in Arrowtown with a welcoming space for us all to come together and create. 2. Offer knitting classes for beginners and also for those who'd like to learn to knit in the round. 3. Host knitting retreats in and around the Queenstown area, so reach out if you're interested. A weekend away in winter with good wool, wine and wonderful women, well I can't imagine anything better. Can you? 

They say when you write your goals down, they are more likely to come true so there it is. Looking forward to the future of where Knitone will take me.
